The fragrance is built around the atmosphere of those estates after dark, using cognac, cinnamon, oak and sandalwood to recreate the warmth of aged wood and the lingering aroma of brewed coffee rather than literally reproducing a coffee note.
Yes, it sits in the gourmand woody spicy family. The cognac, raspberry, cinnamon and tonka give it an edible, boozy warmth, while oak, sandalwood and ambergris keep it from becoming sweet or dessert like. It is a gourmand for people who do not usually like gourmands.
It delivers 8 to 10 hours with high projection. Tonka, oakmoss, ambergris and sandalwood are among the slowest evaporating materials in perfumery, so the drydown dominates the wear and will still be detectable on clothing the following day.
It is listed for evenings, dates and gifting. Dinners, night events, winter functions and celebrations are where it works best. It is not a daytime office fragrance, both because of the high projection and because the cognac and cinnamon opening is deliberately attention holding.

One to two sprays is enough. Coorg Noir has high projection and a base of ambergris, oakmoss and sandalwood that builds over the first half hour, so what feels moderate at application will be noticeably fuller shortly after.
